Julian Barnes: Arthur & George

"arthur & george" started out well and had the potential to be a really fun and creative piece of historical fiction. instead, it was too long, not very historical, and quite dull, especially the last 50 pages, which i definitely skimmed. no spoiler here- the ending was just boring. characters were less than fully developed, and once the plot became clear, it just kind of rushed to its conclusion, then was plumped up by an additional course of fluff. skip it.

strangely, this is the second book i've read this week about 1. england 2. spiritualists in england. england, fine. spiritualists? not really my thing. skip um both.
